About Stonehenge

Stonehenge is one of the world's most famous prehistoric monuments, located on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, England. This remarkable Neolithic structure, dating back to around 3000-2000 BCE, consists of a ring of standing stones, each around 4 metres high, 2.1 metres wide, and weighing about 25 tons. The stones are set within earthworks in the middle of the most dense complex of Neolithic and Bronze Age monuments in England.

Despite centuries of study, Stonehenge continues to puzzle archaeologists and fascinate visitors. It's believed to have been used as an ancient burial site, a ceremonial structure, or an astronomical observatory, though its exact purpose remains a mystery. This UNESCO World Heritage Site attracts visitors from around the globe who come to marvel at this extraordinary feat of ancient engineering and to ponder the questions it still poses about our prehistoric ancestors.
